In this article we describe the structure of dangerous goods plates according to United Nations “Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road”

1. The **upper line** , called hazard number (a.k.a. Kemler Code), describes the danger, which emanates from the transported dangerous goods (33 = highly flammable liquid substance (flash point below 23 °C))
2. The **lower line** , called UN number specifies the composition (type) of the transported goods (1203 = gasoline)

Attached you’ll see an example for a for **a non-compliant ADR plate** :

In this case, it is a digital replica with **non-compliant design** (spacing of digits too large, frame too narrow).
In reality, however, this incorrect representation should not be used.
