Patient Care and the Importance of Technology such as MOBOTIX NurseAssist in Nursing Care
Patient care is a central element in the healthcare system that focuses on the holistic care and support of people with health restrictions. This care ranges from basic nursing care to medical treatment and emotional support. At a time when the demands on care are increasing due to demographic changes and rising numbers of illnesses, the role of technology is becoming ever more important.
Technology in care offers numerous advantages:
It improves the efficiency of processes, enables more precise diagnostics and treatment as well as better documentation of patient information. They not only promote the quality of care, but also help to reduce the workload of nursing staff, which is extremely important in view of the acute shortage of skilled labour.
With the MOBOTIX NurseAssist solution, we contribute to the above-mentioned points and increase the efficiency and quality of the daily routine while providing maximum support to the nursing staff.
Especially in facilities where the switch to a NurseCall system was previously too complex or simply too expensive, we offer an optimal entry-level solution with modern technology made by MOBOTIX and Kepler.
The solution contains two main components:
-
The Smart Sensor in the ceiling: Combines powerful hardware with AI-based analytics to detect patient status such as falls or sitting at the bed’s edge.
-
Application Software for visualising the status of the patient in the room, e.g. fall detection or sitting on the edge of the bed.
Both components offer a wide range of expansion options to expand the care service (virtual tour, patient communication, etc.) and provide a basis for constantly increasing security and building technology requirements (access control, access control and building security) in the facility.
Components of the solution in detail:
Smart Sensor:
The MOBOTIX c71 NurseAssist is based on the proven 360° sensor technology and includes an AI-based app from the world market leader Kepler. In combination, an extremely powerful sensor for fall and situation detection of patients, which still has many functions ready for further requirements!
Application Software:
The nurse monitor in the MOBOTIX HUB incl. NurseAssist Dashboard is the primary focus for care facilities. In addition to the status display overview of all rooms, the combination offers further functions such as Activity Report - statistical display for a better assessment of the recovery process.
What is needed in the facility:
- One smart sensor per patient room (MOBOTIX c
71A NurseAssist) - One standard Windows PC with monitor in the ward room
- Application software:
- MOBOTIX HUB L2 Base licence (one-off)
- MOBOTIX HUB L2 Device licence (per patient room)
- MOBOTIX HUB NurseAssist Dashboard (included free of charge in the MOBOTIX HUB)
- Advanced Service licence (per patient room) for push notification on the smartphone and constant software updates.
The MOBOTIX Online Catalogue offers quick help in selecting the appropriate products and provides further detailed information on the respective products.
Here is an example for 10 patient rooms and a 3-year update and upgrade option for the application software:
Optional: Extended version of the Kepler app for e.g. sitting on the edge of the bed
Article number: Mx-APP-KEP-NUA-EXT
What does this offer?:
- Reduced workload for staff thanks to automatic monitoring of the patient’s condition (position) with alerts in the event of critical situations such as a patient falling.
- Status overview of all rooms in one view for rapid response and avoidance of additional staff and costs, e.g. information ‘Alzheimer’s patient sitting on the edge of the bed at night’ and prompt escort to the toilet.
- Activity report for statistical evaluation of the patient, e.g. recovery process or better estimation of the actual effort required during the night shift.
- Optimised shift handover with relevant patient information per room.
The scope of functions of the Basic Version of the Kepler APP:
- Monitoring the well-being of patients in private rooms, corridors and communal areas of healthcare facilities.
- Minimisation of response times thanks to decentralised, state-of-the-art fall detection.
- Prevention of accidents caused by the events person on the floor, person in bed and person out of bed.
- Automated detection and localisation of the bed in the patient room.
- Data protection-compliant (GDPR) operation through event-controlled masking of live and recorded images
- Dynamic masking of a person in bed for additional privacy protection
The scope of functions of the Extended version of the Kepler APP (30-day demo version can be used immediately, licence activation required thereafter):
- Person is sitting on the edge of the bed
- Person has left the room
- Person has entered the room
- Person has entered the bathroom / is in the bathroom
- Bed is not recognised / is not present
- Differentiation between lying and sitting person on the floor
Additional signalling and call options:
In addition to the hub dashboard on the nurse monitor, situations can also be reported to other devices:
-
Voice call to a DECT telephone thanks to the SIP functionality of the c71 NurseAssist Sensor. The following features should be emphasised:
- Call chain: Telephone numbers are called in sequence. Dialling attempts and waiting time can be set individually for each subscriber.
- Optional pin confirmation that the call has been accepted.
- Automatic voice announcement possible, e.g. room 3, patient Mr Müller for easier assignment of where the call came from.
- Optional: Intercom with the patient (if activated and desired in the facility)
Connection to room signalling light via switching output of the c71 NurseAssist sensor
-
Patient call optionally possible.
