The European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (abbreviation ADR, from Accord européen relatif au transport international des marchandises Dangereuses par Route), concluded in Geneva on September 30, 1957, contains special regulations for road transport with regard to packaging, load securing and marking of dangerous goods.
The ADR describes, among other things, that transports of dangerous goods must cover orange dangerous goods plates both from the front and from the rear.
On May 13, 2019, it was decided to remove the prefix “European” from the title as of January 1, 2021 to allow for the accession of other, non-European countries.
