The MOBOTIX Activity Sensor
Avoid false alarms simply and efficiently
The MxActivity Sensor from MOBOTIX is an advanced video motion detection technology specifically designed to drastically reduce the number of false alarms. Here are some key features:
- Motion detection: The sensor specifically registers the movement of people and objects and ignores irrelevant changes in the image, such as changes in lighting or the swaying of trees in the wind.
- Reduction of false alarms: Targeted detection of relevant movements can reduce the number of false alarms by up to 90 %.
- Simple configuration: The sensor is quick and easy to configure. All you have to do is define the desired image areas and directions of movement that trigger an alarm.
4.Robustness: The MxActivity sensor delivers reliable results even in the event of external interference, such as heavy rain or moving objects. - Integration: The sensor is integrated in MOBOTIX cameras and works with firmware version 4.1.6 or higher.
This technology is particularly useful for applications where precise and reliable motion detection is required, such as monitoring car parks or buildings.

Overview of the different versions of the MxActivity Sensor:
MxActivity Sensor
The original MxActivity sensor offers advanced motion detection that has been specially developed to drastically reduce the number of false alarms. It specifically recognises relevant movements and ignores irrelevant changes in the image. (as described above)
MxActivity Sensor 2.0
Version 2.0 of the MxActivity sensor takes the relative size of the detected object into account. The parameterisation of object size near and far can be defined separately. This prevents small objects such as animals in the vicinity from being recognised as persons:
-
Increased precision**: Improved motion detection algorithms that distinguish even more precisely between relevant and irrelevant movements.
-
Activity Sensor 2.0 in Action:
MxActivity Sensor 2.1
Version 2.1 builds on the improvements of version 2.0 and offers additional functions:
- Reduced false alarms**: Further optimisations that reduce the number of false alarms in dark and “noisy” images.
The most important points during configuration:
- The detection range of the activity sensor should cover the area to be monitored (not too small)
- Define exclusion areas: Mark areas that could generate false alarms (e.g. road, long swivelling branch in the field of vision, flags, etc.) with a rectangle; these areas are then ignored with an exclamation mark in front of them.
- Define object size for objects close to the camera
- Define object size for objects far away
- Video shows the definition of near and far. Please also note the practical tip
-
Practical tip: For people, always set the window slightly smaller than the person themselves (approx. torso with head without arms and legs); this was not taken into account in the video!
- Set dead time sensibly
This is what it looks like when it is configured correctly:
MxActivity Sensor AI
The latest version, the MxActivity Sensor AI, integrates artificial intelligence for motion detection:
- AI-supported detection: Use of AI for even more precise detection of relevant movements and further reduction of false alarms.
Self-learning systems: The sensor can adapt to different environments and conditions and continuously learn to improve detection.
