How to use MOBOTIX NAS as HUB recording target via iSCSI

If you want to use a MOBOTIX NAS as recording target for your MOBOTIX HUB System you have to follow this steps.

What are the advantages of ISCSI for video recording?

A simple share connection (NAS) offers Windows a file and folder level access (SMB) and iSCSI offers a more performant direct access to the data blocks which provides a higher data throughput due to lower protocol overhead. This so-called SAN technology is preferable to a classic SMB connection for larger installations (significantly larger than 50 cameras).

Which MOBOTIX NAS models support ISCSI?
All MOBOTIX NAS models support this technology, the MOBOTIX NAS 8 Bay also offers the necessary 10 GB interface to fully utilize this technology.

Which MOBOTIX HUB Level support iSCSI?
All MOBOTIX HUB Level support iSCSI.

Best Practise recommandation
We recommend to use ISCSI only for archive storage and not for Live storage!

As the iSCSI Storage is integrated in Windows as a “normal” hard drive it works with all MOBOTIX HUB Versions from L1 up to L5
