If you want to use a MOBOTIX NAS as recording target for your MOBOTIX HUB System you have to follow this steps.
SMB connection is the classic and easy way for small to medium-sized installations to use the MOBOTIX NAS as a storage target for the MOBOTIX HUB.
This protocol is supported by all MOBOTIX NAS devices.

Environment for this manual
- MOBOTIX HUB 2021R2 L5
- MOBOTIX NAS 4-Bay ( Mx-S-NAS4A-16 ) (FW: 4.3.4.1862)
-1x SSD-Cache
-3x 4TB WD-Purple
-2x 1Gbit Ethernet - Windows 11 Pro
The following steps must be performed here
1.Create a new Network Share and User on your MOBOTIX NAS
2. Create a local windows admin user with the same name and password of your MOBOTIX NAS User
3. Add this new local windows admin user as Login user for the Recording Server Service
4. Setup Recording Storage in MOBOTIX Hub ManagementClient
1. Create a new Network Share and User on your MOBOTIX NAS
Login into your MOBOTIX NAS and click on Control Panel
Select Storage & Snapshot
Click on Storage/Snapshot
Add a new StoragePool and a new Volume
In the Control Panel select Users
Add a new user
IMPORTANT: The same User must be added to your Windows System on which the recording server is running!
In this Case I created a User:
Username: support
PW: support
I have to create a local windows admin user with the username: support and password: support
In the Control Panel select "Shared Folders"
Create a new share. Select your Volume which you have created.
Your User (example support) need Read and Write Rights (RW)
Click Create
2. Create a local windows admin user with the same name and password of your MOBOTIX NAS User
3. Add this new local windows admin user as Login user for the Recording Server Service
Windows → Services
=> Search for "MOBOTIX HUB Recording Server"
=> Right Click
=> Properties
Click on Log On
Select your created local windows user and add his password
Stop and Restart this Service
Troubleshooting when the RecordingServer does not start after setting the Login User for this service.
Right Click on the RecordingServer Icon => Server Configurator…
Select Encryption and click on Apply
Click Apply
After a while the message: Encryption configuration successful should appear
Start the RecordingServer again.
Now the RecoringServer should start normally again
4. Setup Recording Storage in MOBOTIX HUB ManagementClient
→ ManagementClient → Recording Server → Storage
Double Click on you Recording Path
Enter the Path of your MOBOTIX NAS Share
Now the Recordings are send directly to the MOBOTIX NAS via SMB Connection
