MOBOTIX Thermal Validation - FAQ

In this article, you’ll find answers to the most common questions about how the Thermal Validation App reduces false alarms, integrates seamlessly with MOBOTIX Thermal Radiometry cameras, and operates alongside EN54-10 certification. Explore these FAQs to learn how this innovative solution enhances fire detection accuracy without compromising existing regulatory approvals.

State: App v1.3.12

What is the major purpose of the MOBOTIX Thermal Validation App?
The Thermal Validation App is an additional software layer designed to reduce false alarms in MOBOTIX Thermal Radiometry cameras by analyzing temperature patterns and filtering out non-fire heat sources like hotspots on moving objects (e.g. construction vehicles) or heat signatures caused by thermal reflections.

How does the validation of hotspots work?
The App monitors how heat signatures emerge and develop over time. If the observed temperature progression does not match typical fire behavior, the app suppresses the alarm, thereby improving accuracy of the cameras.

Does the MOBOTIX Thermal Validation App affect the EN54-10 certification of the cameras?
No. The Thermal Validation App does not invalidate or alter the EN54-10 certification of the MOBOTIX Thermal Radiometry cameras, nor does it require re-approval on site. The underlying hardware and core detection mechanisms - those explicitly tested and certified under EN54-10 -remain unchanged. The approval at the end user is ultimately depending on the performance of the camera in case of a fire which is tested and certified locally.

What interfaces are provided to integrate the app’s event data into third-party systems?
The classic connection to alarm fire alarm systems is realized via the signal outputs of the external IO box, certified after EN54-18 and part of the standard equipment of each MOBOTIX EN54 camera bundle.
In addition, the event data from the Thermal Validation App can be transmitted via generic IP notifies, MQTT, MODBUS/TCP or MxMessages.
