MOBOTIX HUB DRIVER - THE driver for MOBOTIX cameras
MOBOTIX cameras can be integrated into the MOBOTIX HUB VMS with different drivers.
- via generic ONVIF
- via Mobotix M/D/V/S
- via MOBOTIX HUB Driver
Practical tip: When should which driver be used?
- The MOBOTIX Driver should always be used with ALL modern MOBOTIX cameras.
- For older MOBOTIX IOT models, the Mobotix M/D/V/S
- ONVIF Driver only in very rare special cases
The MOBOTIX HUB driver (Driver)
optimally integrates the MOBOTIX cameras into the MOBOTIX HUB. This driver is based on the ONVIF standard and has been extended by specific adaptations that are not included in the ONVIF standard. This enables optimal integration of the MOBOTIX cameras into the MOBOTIX HUB VMS for better utilisation of the MOBOTIX DNA.
Main features of the MOBOTIX HUB Driver for MOBOTIX cameras:
- Support of MOBOTIX IOT cameras of the P6 and P7 series (e.g. M16, Q26, P71, M73 etc.)
- Support of MOBOTIX IOT cameras of the P8(ONE) series (e.g. M1A-S etc.)
Codec support MJPEG, MxPeg and H.264 (H.265 only with P7 cameras) for MOBOTIX IOT cameras - Codec support for MOVE cameras MJPEG and H.264 / H265
- Dynamic integration of event profiles from MOBOTIX IOT cameras. This makes it easier to create rules in the MOBOTIX HUB by adopting the internal camera-specific profile names, e.g. ‘Garage door’.
- Supports ALL event categories of the MOBOTIX IOT cameras in contrast to the existing MOBOTIX M/D/V/S driver which only supports four event categories.
- Integration of the camera SD card
- Prerequisite: ONVIF G support of the camera concerned is required and the Edge Recording settings in the camera are set correctly! P7 and MOVE cameras that are ONVIF G certified support these SD card modes
- The following modes are possible
- SD card as failover medium. In failover mode, the camera will use the SD card for recording and save the data there during the downtime of the recording server. During this downtime, the set streaming profile properties of the camera are used for continuous recording. For the IOT cameras, a dedicated streaming profile can be assigned for this case in the Admin menu under Integration Protocol can be assigned.
- SD card as buffer medium for time-shifted transmission to reduce the load on the recording server or for better load distribution of the Internet bandwidth (e.g. outside opening hours) at distributed locations. *
- Direct SD card access. For use where the camera only stores the data on the SD card * ++
*Special feature when playing back an event-controlled recording. In the Desk Client, the timeline is displayed as uninterrupted and the events are not highlighted in colour. For the user, it appears as a continuous recording.
++ Playback with direct SD card access is solved based on the ONVIF standard as follows. Reverse playback of a video sequence is only possible if the time range is in the video buffer, this requires a time positioning in the timeline followed by a forward playback.
Important notes on installation
- The system requirements are described in the version notes of the MOBOTIX HUB software system, which must be installed first.
- Prerequisite for using the new MOBOTIX HUB Driver:
-
Current camera firmware
-
MOBOTIX HUB 2023 R1 or newer (older versions have not been explicitly tested)
-
For MOBOTIX HUB version 2022R3 and earlier, please use the MOBOTIX Driver 2022-R3
-
For MOBOTIX HUB version 2023R1 and later, please use the MOBOTIX Driver 2023R1
-
It is recommended to add cameras to the MOBOTIX HUB with the MOBOTIX Discovery Plugin to activate ONVIF, update firmware or find cameras in the network.
-
After installing the driver, two new driver types are offered in the MOBOTIX HUB under the ‘MOBOTIX’ driver branch:
- MOBOTIX IOT Cameras
- MOBOTIX MOVE Cameras
The existing / previous drivers for MOBOTIX can still be selected, the new ones complement the driver variety.
Note: For older models such as P2 and P3 MOBOTIX IOT cameras, the existing MOBOTIX M/D/V/S driver must be used.
