Mobotix M12 doesn't record on Allnet NAS

Hi. I have an issue with a M12 Mobotix Camera. It doesn’t record anymore on my Allnet NAS - CIFS/SMB. All settings seems to be correct. Other cameras(such as M73, M24, etc) have no problem. This problem seems to be only for M12 type. I think this issue started from the last firmware update for M12. How can i upload a “/admin/report.dmp” file?

What can be the problem?

Looking forward for your answer.

Thanks!

Hello CMC,

Thank you for using our cameras for such a long time!
The MOBOTIX M12 was launched back in 2006, and its last firmware update was released in 2019.

If you’re experiencing issues with NAS recording, please first verify whether your NAS has recently updated and disabled support for SMB Version 1.0, which is the only SMB version supported by the M12.

In isolated environments without internet or external access, enabling SMB v1.0 may still be acceptable in rare cases. However, if your NAS no longer supports SMB v1.0 and cannot be configured to do so, we recommend considering the use of the NFS protocol as an alternative.

Recommended Setup:

  • Camera → NAS: Use NFS for recording.
  • MxMC on PC → NAS: Use SMB (latest version) for playback.

To make this work, ensure that your NAS share is configured to support both SMB and NFS protocols in parallel.

it’s an old NAS. i have SMB v.1

i think it’s from my last firmware upgrage for M12. Can i downgrade the firmware for M12?

Please let us know which Version you have now installed and which one you have installed before?

In general a downgrade of the FW is possible, but very unusual. (We provide in our Download Area under the Archiv all old Versions)

Let us know the FW Version let us check the Release Notes of both Version what has changed.
