The usage of H.264 requires in the MxMC a “Starter License” based on the Patent law. https://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_Efficiency_Video_Coding

We recommend to use with the MxMC always the Starter License to get the benefit of h.264 codec.
There are two typical use-case:

  1. Export of the recorded footage in MP4 Format (H.264) to get smaller export files compared to the standard AVI Export Format.
  2. Live and Playback Support with H.264 , highly recommend for MOBOTIX MOVE cameras and third party ONVIF cameras

Expert Tip: If you request a MxMC Playback License ( Mx-SW-MC-QNAP) please combine this with the MxMC Starter License ( Mx-SW-MC-Starter). It is the perfect combination!
