You’re still searching for the “Ghost” to define complex API calls, but that won’t solve your issue.
In a normal setup, you should have the CameraBellButton Event available under Signal Events. In the Action Group, you can then combine this CameraBellButton Event with an IP Notify action that sends your specific API command to the external non-MOBOTIX system.
Question: Do you see the CameraBellButton Event in the camera’s setup dialog?
If yes, or if you can configure a Signal Input with Camera: Bell Button, proceed as described above.
If not, or if the previous test does not succeed, then:
Next Steps
Please run Autoconfig and follow the video and instructions in the camera manual exactly. This is critical for success.
About the Super PIN
During Autoconfig, our trainer defined a new Super PIN—this is normal. You will need to enter a new Super PIN during the process. Important: Back up your system and follow the exact reset order as previously mentioned.
It should work without the inlay; it’s mainly for identifying the correct button. Each button can still be pressed without it.
However, since we’ve been discussing this for a while, please send an email to support@mobotix.com with your address. I’ll make sure you receive an inlay—just mention that Jörg promised this and refer to this Chat.
Actually I am not looking at these ghost key presses anymore since they stopped when I disabled the BellRFID module. I was just trying to get the doorbell working while I am preparing for the autoconfig procedure (documenting what is in the setup at the moment).
In the Signal Events I can see the CameraBellButton as in your screenshot. When I send the http request, the IP notify is triggered and the doorbell at the T25 rings. However, when I press the bell button on the camera, nothing happens: the IP notify is not triggered and also the bell at the T25 does not ring. I know that this used to work. This worries me a bit because the first step in the autoconfiguration is to press and hold the CameraBelllButton…
It was not clear from the manual that during autoconfig a new superPin had to be entered. I thought that this was something that was defined in the camera with the factory defaults.
Would it also be possible to receive a couple of RFID cards? Up until now I was unaware that opening the door could be done with an RFID card… Or can any RFID card/tag be used?
Is your Camera Bell Button pressed thousands of times?
Do you feel that the pressure point of the button is vague or soft?
When you press the button, check in the camera image whether the CameraBellButton event is triggered.
This is the first quick test to determine if your button is functioning correctly.
A button breaking over time without heavy usage is highly unlikely.
If the CameraBellButton is really damaged:
You can use the MOBOTIX Management Center (MxMC) function: Component View → Door Station Wizard
For detailed instructions, refer to the MxMC Online Manual. In short: If the camera and RFID module are in factory default settings, you can start Autoconfig via MxMC.
About RFID Cards:
We no longer have RFID cards in stock, but you can obtain them from partners:
Alternatively, you can use any RFID card that complies with the following standard: MIFARE DESFire EV1 4K RFID
The CameraBellButton has barely been used since we had the BellRFID buttons.
The only time the CameraBellButton was used was when people got confused about which of the three bell buttons they had to press…
When pressing the CameraBellButton (or the CameraLightButton) I can see no triggering in the live view.
The keypress does not feel very distinctive.
In MxMC under Component View there are only two tabs: Cameras and Health Check. At the bottom of the screen however there is an icon that says: Initialize Doorstation. I will have a closer look at the manual
I also found a YouTube video where someone used a ‘hidden’ URL to start the autoconfiguration. The URL ends with ipphone_autoconfig.
The URL shown in the IpTechView video is intentionally not public. Here’s why:
Autoconfig is a workflow that applies a series of settings to the camera and any connected MxBus modules. This process must start from the correct base setup of the camera.
If you trigger Autoconfig via the hidden menu, it does not check whether the base setup is complete—it simply executes your request without validation. This can easily lead to misconfigurations.
That’s why I recommend using the MxMC Door Initialization feature instead. It verifies essential settings and only allows Autoconfig when the camera is in its “out-of-the-box” state. This ensures a clean and reliable configuration process.
Important Disclaimer:
The hidden URL and menu are not documented or officially supported by MOBOTIX. If you choose to use them, MOBOTIX cannot provide any support for issues resulting from this method. Please proceed with caution.
Finally, as Christian emphasized: be very careful with the hidden menu and its buttons. Incorrect settings can create complex issues that may require starting over from scratch. Taking a few extra precautions now will save you a lot of time later.
I have found the relevant section in the MxMC manual.
In the mean time however there is an interesting development.
While I was documenting my current configuration, I came across the settings for the MainBell in the ‘Bell Behavior and Video Mailbox’ section. In the Signalling phase was the ‘httprequestKim’ IP Notify entry that was always triggered when the ghost bell ringing occurred. I don’t know why the other entries in the Signalling phase were not triggered as well.
As the CameraBellButton and the CameraLightButton are not functioning anymore, I now believe that one way or the other they were responsible for the ghost bell ringing. Maybe some contact that is intermittently being switched on/off.
I have now removed the Signalling phase for the MainBell and the last 4 days have not had any ghost bell ringing anymore. Something may still be going on, but at least it does not bother me anymore…
Both BellRFID bell buttons work.
I will leave the situation as is at the moment and see how this works out.
