The unique decentralised concept of a classic MOBOTIX IOT camera allows a very lean installation in which the camera manages all the necessary tasks that are performed in centralised systems by a permanently running server with corresponding software.
One aspect of this decentralised concept is to store the video data locally in the camera on the SD card and play it back with the MxMC as required, instead of storing it on a server (usually a NAS).
This function has been optimally implemented in the MxMC and the MOBOTIX IOT cameras for years and has proven itself millions of times over
With the MxMC version 2.9 we are taking the first step with specific MOBOTIX camera models of the MOVE series to support local SD card recording more intensively in the future. Based on the ONVIF technology on which the MOVE camera is based, there are technical differences to the MOBOTIX IOT camera that do not allow a 1:1 conversion from the MOBOTIX IOT to the MOVE cameras.
In this first step, we offer the rudimentary option of playing back the recorded data on the SD card of a MOVE camera with the MxMC.
This includes:
- Playback of the recording at normal playback speed.
- Playback Seek (time positioning) with the calendar slider in the camera recording.
- The backwards and forwards button allows you to jump in the recording according to the time settings
- Snapshot storage of the currently displayed image
- Switch between playback of local recording or MOBOTIX NAS recording
Video data can be exported via the camera web interface; export via the MxMC is not yet available.
Possible application scenarios are in the private environment with occasional research or in commercial use in combination with the MOBOTIX NAS as additional redundant recording on SD card.
Configuration notes:
MxMC:
No configuration steps are required here for playback of the recorded video data from the SD cards. The prerequisite is that the relevant Move camera is integrated in the MxMC with full rights and records to the SD card.
As soon as the user switches from the live view of the Move camera to playback mode in MxMC, the SD card is accessed “automatically”.
Playback:
MOVE camera:
- SD card must be installed and ideally formatted beforehand using a Windows PC!
- Format the SD card in the “SD Card” area of the MOVE Camera web interface in the “Recording File Setting” area.
- The camera can record data per duration or per event; to do this, the “Action” (“Triggered Action”) must be linked to the SD card in the corresponding event. Example with motion detection:
Important: For security-relevant applications, we recommend using a MOBOTIX NAS.
