I have several Mobotix One cameras we have been using for learning. Now I want to delete all the recordings.
I found several references to an “Old Data Removal” feature for Mobotix 7 cameras but I cannot find it in the menus.
Is it there somewhere?

MOBOTIX cameras do not provide a dedicated “Delete all recordings” button or function. Instead, recordings are typically stored in a ring buffer, where the oldest recordings are automatically overwritten once the configured retention period or storage capacity is reached.
To permanently remove existing recordings, we first need to know where and how the recordings are stored.
As a first step, stop the recording by disabling the recording function.
In general, recordings can be stored in one of the following locations:
A. Internal SD card
If the recordings are stored on the camera’s internal SD card, the easiest way to remove all recordings is to format the SD card.
B. Network storage (NAS/File Server)
If the camera is recording to a network share, simply delete the corresponding recording folder from the file server using Windows Explorer or your preferred file management tool.
If the recordings were created by a central Video Management System (VMS), such as MOBOTIX HUB or another VMS, the recordings must be deleted using the corresponding VMS. In this case, the camera itself cannot delete the archived recordings.
Regarding your question about “Old Data Removal”:
This option is available for MOBOTIX 7 and MOBOTIX ONE cameras when using the MxFFS Archive recording buffer. It is a storage management option within the encrypted, block-oriented MxFFS file system and ensures that the configured retention time is respected before storage blocks are reused by the ring buffer. It is not intended as a manual function to delete all existing recordings on demand.
Could you let us know how your camera is configured for recording?
- Internal SD card or external file server?
- MxFFS Archive or another recording mode?
- Or are you using a VMS?
With this information, we can recommend the most appropriate way to remove your recordings.

Thank you for the reply. The cameras are Mobotix One. All recordings are on the SD card.

Correct.
If you need to format the SD cards of multiple cameras, the fastest and most convenient way is to use MOBOTIX MxManagementCenter (MxMC) instead of formatting each camera individually via its web interface.
This functionality has been available since MxMC Version 2.7.1 and is continuously maintained. It also supports formatting the SD cards of the latest MOBOTIX ONE camera models.
