The steps below outline how to troubleshoot x14, x15 and x16 series sensor modules, when one or both of the sensors is not detected by the camera. This could be due to the Automatic Sensor Configuration is not set properly or there is a defective sensor or cable.
The first step is to set the Image Sensor Configuration to No Sensor for both right and left sensor.m This will force the camera to initiate the automatic sensor configuration at the next reboot. Once the automatic sensor configuration has been reset to No Sensor it will not be set in the camera configuration until the camera has been in operation for twelve hours.
Please try the following tests to reinitialize the automatic sensor configuration and/or identify a fault.
Note: Make sure that you are using the correct sensor modules with the camera. It is not possible to use 14 series sensor modules with a 15 or 16 series camera and visa versa.
Test - 1 Start condition
1a. Go to >Admin >Image Sensor Configuration menu and set both sensors to No Sensor, Set, Close, and Ok.
1b. Go to >Admin >Store current configuration, click on Store permanently, and reboot the camera.
1c. Remove power and configure the cables and sensors as follows
Cam1 -> Cable A -> Sensor 1
Cam2 -> Cable B -> Sensor 2
1.d. Restore power
- If both of the sensors are displayed in the live image then the automatic sensor configuration only needed to be reinitialized and you are now finished.
- If one of the sensors are not shown in the live view of the camera note which one and continue with Test - 2 and 3.
Test - 2 Swap Sensors
2.a. Remove power and configure the cables and sensors as follows
Cam1 -> Cable A -> Sensor 2
Cam2 -> Cable B -> Sensor 1
2.b. Restore power
- If the sensor that is not working after swapping moves to the other port then the sensor sensor faulty.
- If the sensor that is not shown stays on the same port then the problem could be the camera or the cable.
Test - 3 Swap Cables
3.a. Remove power and configure the cables and sensors as follows
Cam1 -> Cable B -> Sensor 2
Cam2 -> Cable A -> Sensor 1
3.b. Restore power
- If the sensor that is not shown follows the cable then the cable is bad. This can be checked by using other cable.
- If the sensor that is not shown stays then there is a problem with the camera.
Once you have determined what the problem is, send the results of your test to Mobotix Support with a full camera report from the camera and the serial numbers from the sensor modules.
